What is DTS?

Discipleship Training School (DTS)  is YWAM's foundational school and is all about experiencing the heartbeat and DNA of YWAM: 

To Know God and to Make Him Known! 

DTS is an intensive program that blends classroom learning, small group activities, personal reflection, practical service, and community living to give you the place and space to grow in intimacy with God and a passion to share Jesus with those around you. It is split into two parts: lecture phase and outreach phase.

Lecture Phase

The lecture phase is all about focusing on Knowing God. Each of the 12 weeks of lecture phase will have a focus with lectures to grow our knowledge of the Nature and Character of God, His Father Heart, His Heart for the Nations, Recognizing God’s Voice, to prepare our hearts for life changing encounters with God. While there is a lot of time spent in the classroom during lecture phase, there are also lots of hands on, small group, and practical service activities integrated to allow the knowledge to be lived out and transform our lives.

Outreach Phase

In the outreach phase the focus shifts to Making God Known. We will split into teams and spend 8 weeks living out and sharing what we have learned about God in a cross-cultural setting. At YWAM North Africa, our hearts’ desire that the Kingdom of God would thrive in North Africa and among North Africans; so our outreach focus will be to see North Africans reconciled- first and foremost to Jesus and then to the world around them.

  • Student Fees:

    Lecture Phase: €2,500 which covers tuition, books, food, housing, and local outreach.

    Outreach Phase: €1,800-€2,500 *subject to change depending on location

    Students from B and C category countries can apply for a discount!

  • Students coming from the European Union do not need a visa.

    Students coming from North America do not need a visa as you will be granted 90 days in the country upon entry. However, as DTS will use almost all of these days, it is important that you do not plan any trips within Europe before or after the DTS. Students coming from other parts of the world may need a visa so please check with us if you are unsure! We cannot guarantee that we are able to get visas for students in time.

  • Absolutely!

    At "YWAM, we affirm the importance of families serving God together in missions, not just the father and/or mother. We also embrace the inclusion of single-parent families. We encourage the development of strong and healthy family units, with each member sharing the call to missions and contributing their gifts in unique and complementary ways."

    This means that every member of your family will have a unique place and role in community life while in Spain and on outreach!

    Fees for spouses who have previously completed a DTS and Children are to cover Room & Board and community activities.

  • You must be 18 or have graduated high school when the DTS starts in order to apply.

    We have no age limits. Applicants must be committed Christians with a desire to grow in their relationship with God.

  • We have an online application that can be filled out at any time! In order to comply with new European Data laws, you must first fill out a privacy consent form. More information about the steps to apply and the application are on the Apply Now page!

3. Receive an email in a few days with a form to submit information for your references (you can also put their info in the application)

4. We will email your 3 references a form to complete

5. Email a recent photo to dts@gosahara.org

6. Once we receive your 3 reference forms, we will schedule a video chat with you
